Competition for the expansion of the cantonal wine cellars, Leytron
The project ‘Etienne’ is a proposed solution to expand and upgrade the existing winery.
The topography is used to separate the different functional areas. The old building will be restructured and will remain functional during the construction phase of the new valley side building.
A new entrance for customers arises in the new building. The production rooms are logically organized around the central visitor hall. The sequence of rooms is based on the phases of wine production. A central staircase leads to the sales and tasting rooms upstairs, where a wide pergola provides a view of the winery.
Inside the building, a play of daylight leads to the architectural interface where wine barrels are staged as the starting point of the production zone.
The winery is designed in direct connection with the customer. The visit to the winery becomes a holistic experience through the authentic insights into the production and the integrated ambience.
